Riesige Felsgravuren am Fluss Orinoco entdeckt – DW – 10.06.2024

In Venezuela and Colombia, researchers claim to have discovered what are believed to be the largest prehistoric rock paintings in the world along the Upper and Middle Orinoco River. Some of these rock engravings are several dozen meters long. In total, there are 14 monumental carvings on the rock walls along the Orinoco. Some of the sites have been known for a long time, while others were recently discovered. According to the researchers, the petroglyphs, the drawings carved into the rock, are at least 2,000 years old, as evidenced by the comparison with ceramic finds from the same period.
