DJ Bitkom: Karlsruhe, Osnabrück and Ulm in the top 10 of the smartest cities
BERLIN (Dow Jones) – Karlsruhe, Osnabrück and Ulm have moved up into the top 10 of the Smart City Index. This was revealed by the digital ranking of all 81 German cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants by the digital association Bitkom. Aachen, Dresden and Hamburg as well as Cologne, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart are also among the smartest cities in Germany.
„Even in the fifth year of the Smart City Index, we see a lot of movement – not only among the top-ranked cities, but across the board,“ said Bitkom President Ralf Wintergerst. „A slightly lower ranking does not mean that the cities are less digital than before. Rather, it shows that others are currently doing more and are even faster.“
Overall, there is currently tremendous momentum around the Smart City and the gaps are narrowing. Bitkom will present more details on this on October 12th.
